Hoping to expand next school year!
Musical Marvels continues to move steadily forward with Rachel and Dan highly valued by the Music Departments at both Ferndale and Porth County."The feedback is very positive", Steve Bowden, headteacher at Porth County, told us. "Rachel and Dan are having a very positive influence on our students. They get fully involved in music and pertforming arts lessons. They are totally enthusiastic!"
Mr. Bowden's counterpart at Ferndale, Peter Jenkins, is in full agreement.
"Without question, Rachel and Dan have been an asset to the music department at Ferndale, both in the classroom and extra-curricular activities," he said. "They make an excellent all-round contribution, have formed several bands, held concerts and given one-to-one tuition that has been of immeasurable benefit to our students. Rachel's performing skills have helped enormously with preparation for solo performances at GCSE, and Dan's technical ability has been a great benefit in the run up to concerts".
Unsurprisingly, the two Comps we are presently not in - Tonypandy and Treorchy - are mad keen to see Musical Marvels reach their shores.
So what's the chances?
"Musical Marvels is a key part of our vision," Phil told us. "We're about influence and Rachel has done and excellent job in establishing a firm foundation in both Ferndale and Porth County where we are now very firmly established. Adding Dan last summer as an intern has further strengthened our position. He will become a full-on Trainee this summer and the plan is that we expand Musical Marvels (MM) into Tonypandy and Treorchy from September".
Musical Marvels however, continues to be almost totally subsidized by Sporting Marvels and Phil is keen to see MM generate more support in its own right. If you feel called to get behind MM financially, please don't hesistate to get in touch! Either way, please pray.
"With proper funding Musical Marvels could be incredible", Phil said. "With his servant heart and sharp wit, Dan has fitted in brilliantly and proved a great addition to the team. Ideally, we'd add another trainee or intern for the next school year as that would allow us to provide an even better service to the Comps and also give Rachel the opportunity to start holding workshops in the primary schools."
