Steve Ball

Senior Pastor

Initially our associate pastor, Steve became our Senior Pastor in September 2010 replacing Chris Cartwright. Before entering the ministry, Steve worked as a practicing chartered surveyor in York before. Before joining City Temple in 1996, he studied at Regents Theological College.

In addition to his work at the City Temple, Steve preaches regularly in a number of other churches in the Cardiff area and serves on the Regional Team for the Elim Pentecostal Churches. Steve is married to Helen and they have 3 children.

Stephen Gibson

Associate Pastor

Stephen joined the team in August 2012 as Associate Pastor. He leads the worship ministry and is part of the teaching team. Stephen is married to Rachel and they have four children.

He is part of the Elim Sound core team, a national Elim worship initiative and previously served for over 10 years as associate pastor at Elim Christian Centre, Paisely.

Nigel James

Teaching / Missions

Nigel joined the team at City Temple in 2004. He serves as a part of the teaching team and in shaping our missions programme.

Nigel is involved in a wide variety of ministry outside of City Temple including pastoring the American Christian band Third Day; youth ministry and evangelism. He is also a member of the Evangelical Alliance Council for Wales (and the UK), but even manages to find the time to write a book or two!

Nigel is also one of the founding directors of Ignite a youth organisation that challenges young people to discover their purpose in life, to be a disciple of Jesus and to transform a generation.

Nigel has specific responsible for Ignite's international development in India, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Kenya and USA. He is married to Gill and they have 3 children.

Matt Gregor

Youth Pastor

Matt is the Youth Pastor with responsibility for ministry to teenagers. The main programme's each week are called Boxfresh and Reality but he also spends a lot of his time with the team of volunteer youth leaders. Matt is excited about seeing young people come to know and love God, and become part of the church.

Matt joined the team in Jan 2003 after Graduating from the University of Glamorgan with a BSc in Information Systems which included a year at Llanwern Steel Works in the IT department.

He was also actively involved with Glamorgan Christian Union at university and is still excited about reaching students in Cardiff. Matt regularly visits High Schools and develops links between the church and schools. He also regularly leads our Sunday Night Church, a service aimed at youth and young adults.

Steve Harris

Teaching / Discipleship

Steve grew up in the City Temple and after graduating from University and a time in missions in Europe he returned to Cardiff where he has been active in the church for many years.

Steve joined the leadership team in 1999 initially as Evangelism Director. Over the years Steve worked more and more with those who were new to the church and the Christian faith.

Steve now works for the City Temple for part of the week and leads the Beacon Church, originally started by the City Temple, in St Mellons.

Steve is married to Myra and they have 2 children.
